Website costs at a glance.

Website design & build

RM2,288

One-time fee for a five-page business website. Domain and hosting are separate.

Domain & hosting

Approx. RM430–580

Estimated initial payment, excluding tax. For an applicable plan, this budget covers four years of hosting and one year of a standard .com domain. Actual prices and terms are confirmed before purchase.

Website care

RM99/month

Optional—not a compulsory subscription. If selected, the minimum term is 12 months: RM1,188 for a year of care.

What should you budget for the initial setup?

RM2,288 for the website + approximately RM430–580 for domain and hosting.

Approx. RM2,718–2,868 in total

This is an initial build-and-purchase budget example, excluding tax, optional care and additional features. The build fee is not an annual charge. Hosting and domain coverage have different terms—this does not mean four years of both.

Planning a website budget in Penang? Compare the scope first.

A local designer, a remote freelancer and an agency may quote for different amounts of work. Compare the pages, supplied materials, revisions, features and recurring charges—not only the headline price. I am based in Penang and work remotely with businesses across Malaysia.

A straightforward five-page website

Example: a service business with its photos and basic information ready. The standard build is RM2,288. With the stated domain and hosting estimate, the initial budget is approximately RM2,718–2,868, excluding tax, optional care and extra features.

This suits a business that needs to introduce its services, show existing work and receive enquiries. It does not include online payments or a complex booking system.

More content or a different workflow

Example: a second language, a larger product catalogue or changes to an existing website. The quote depends on the material to prepare, the current platform and any extra functionality. A basic bilingual version adds RM1,200 to the standard website fee; other requirements are reviewed separately.

A small update does not necessarily need a full rebuild. A catalogue or dedicated advertising page may also be a different scope from a five-page company website.

What does a five-page website include?

Five pages means five separate pages within one website—not five sections on a single page. The content is planned around your business.

  • Home
Introduce the business and show visitors how to take the next step.
  • Services / Products
Organise the main service or product information.
  • About Us
Introduce the business, the people behind it and how you work.
  • Work / Case Studies / Reviews
Present existing work or genuine feedback shared with permission. If you do not have reviews, we can plan suitable content instead.
  • Contact & Enquiry
Bring together contact details, location information and enquiry options.

Included in the build

  • Layouts for mobile, tablet and desktop.
  • Help organising the basic text and information you provide.
  • WhatsApp contact links and relevant location information.
  • Basic search setup, traffic statistics and essential pre-launch checks.

Quoted separately

  • Professional photography, video and logo design.
  • Online payments, shopping carts, complex booking or membership features.
  • Extra pages, large-volume data entry and additional language versions.
  • Ongoing SEO, advertising management, social media management and separately agreed services.
  • Any paid third-party features or subscriptions, explained before work begins.

What do domain and hosting fees pay for?

A domain is your web address. Hosting is the service that stores the website and keeps it online. They have separate coverage periods; an introductory offer is not the same as the renewal price.

Initial purchase
The website build is a one-time fee. Domain and hosting are purchased separately, with prices, coverage and renewal terms confirmed first. The example budget assumes four years of hosting and one year of a standard .com domain.
While hosting is prepaid
You do not pay for the same hosting period again each year. However, the standard .com domain still needs annual renewal; allow approximately RM80/year.
After the hosting offer ends
Both domain and hosting require renewal under the selected plan. Allow approximately RM400–500/year in total as a reference budget. The actual renewal price will be confirmed at the time.

Domain and hosting are registered in your name. Actual plans, prices, terms and renewals are confirmed before purchase. These estimates are not a promise of a future supplier price.

Is website care compulsory?

You can leave out the care plan if you prefer to manage routine updates yourself. If you would like help with small changes and routine maintenance, optional care is RM99/month with a 12-month minimum term.

  • Minor issue fixes for existing features.
  • One batch of small content changes each month, up to 30 minutes in total, using the text and photos you supply.
  • A basic traffic summary and WhatsApp support within the agreed plan.

Care does not include domain or hosting fees, major redesigns, new pages or complex new features. The precise update scope is agreed before the plan begins.

What if you need more pages, two languages or a redesign?

Additional pages start from RM350/page. A basic Chinese–English bilingual version costs an additional RM1,200. The final quotation depends on page count, content volume, features and revision scope.

If you already have a website and want a redesign or a smaller update, send me the link, the platform it uses and a list of the changes you need. I will review the existing content and features before confirming the scope and quotation, rather than offer a fixed price without seeing the site.

Existing content and important URLs are reviewed before changes are planned. See website redesign and update services for the available options.

Can you see the design direction before paying a deposit?

After discussing your needs and confirming the package budget, I will provide one free static homepage hero-section mockup. Once you approve the direction and pay the deposit, the full website build begins. The preview is not a complete website or a working prototype. The usual turnaround is 10–15 working days after the materials, design direction and deposit are confirmed; the project schedule is agreed first.

Five questions to ask when comparing quotations.

  • How many separate pages are included, and who prepares the content?
  • How long are domain and hosting covered for, and what will renewal cost?
  • Are there compulsory monthly fees, and how are extra features charged?
  • Are mobile layouts, enquiry links and pre-launch checks included?
  • Will the domain and hosting be registered in your name?

Compare what is included, not just the headline price. A single page, a five-page business website and an online store are different scopes.

Common questions about website costs.

Why do website design quotes in Malaysia vary so much?

Compare the work included: separate pages or a single landing page, who prepares the content, mobile layouts, language versions and any booking, payment or catalogue features. Domain and hosting terms, revision scope and support after launch also affect the total. A cheaper headline price does not always cover the same work.

Would a landing page cost the same as a five-page website?

Not necessarily. A landing page focuses on one service, offer or campaign, while a business website spreads information across several pages. The quote depends on content, design and features. See landing page design and enquiry tracking if you need a page for a specific promotion.

Does RM2,288 cover every cost?

No. RM2,288 is the design-and-build fee for five pages. Domain, hosting, optional care and extra requirements are separate. You can review the scope and costs before deciding.

Must I pay RM99 every month after launch?

No. Website care is optional. However, domain and hosting still need to be renewed on their respective schedules, even without a care plan.

Does four years of hosting also mean four years of domain registration?

No. This budget example covers four years of hosting and one year of a standard .com domain. The domain still requires annual renewal afterwards. Both coverage periods are explained before purchase.

Can I enquire before I have copy and photos ready?

Yes. Tell me about your industry, services and the materials you already have. I will explain what else is needed and whether additional photography or content work is required.

Is a bilingual website included in the five-page package?

No. A basic Chinese–English bilingual version is an additional RM1,200. Page count, content volume and features are confirmed first.

Could these prices change?

Yes. Scope, billing terms, domain type, tax and available offers can affect the cost. Domain, hosting and renewal figures in this guide are reference budgets, subject to the actual quotation when confirmed.

What would a suitable website cost for your business?

Share your industry, the pages you need, any existing website, your budget and your timeline. I will first understand the requirements, then suggest a suitable scope.
